TARGET & NEIMAN MARCUS COLLABORATION
I must say I was looking forward to spotting some really great reasonably priced items. Their marketing, commercials and creativity has been incredible.

I got to the store, and I must say I kept looking and was so disappointed. The Fashion is just not what it was cracked up to be. I was drawn more to the accessory and gift items, and when I looked at the prices my jaw dropped to the ground.  These are the items I am featuring..do I believe in these prices just because it has a designer name on it? NO WAY. Go to the nearest Target and see it for yourself. Hopefully I didn't spoil this for you! These were my favorites....but I do not agree with these price points! They had a scarf for 69.99 just because it had Marc Jabobs on it!

Altuzarra Shaker- 49.99

Altuzarra Double Old Fashioned Glasses - Set of 4- 49.99 SAME PRICE!

Oscar de la Renta Pet Bowl-29.99

Jason Wu Ornaments - Set of 3- 49.99

Neiman Marcus and Target Launch was Last Night

Karlie Kloss, Kate Bosworth and More Celebrate the Target x Neiman...

Karlie Kloss, Kate Bosworth and More Celebrate the Target x Neiman... (clipped to polyvore.com)

Last night, has become the norm for Target’s increasingly high-profile collaboration launch events, well-dressed starlets and talented designers came together to greet each other, pose for photos, indulge in champagne and cocktails, and even shop.
The celebration was in honor of Target’s collaboration with Neiman Marcus, the CFDA, and 24 of their favorite designers on a 50-piece collection of everything from pint-size Marchesa dresses to Band of Outsiders cookie cutters to Oscar de la Renta dog leashes. You can shop it at Target and Neiman’s online and in store starting December 1.
“I think what’s interesting about it is the enormous diversity of product,” Neiman Marcus’s fashion director Ken Downing mentioned. “A lot of people’s anticipation was that because we went to fashion designers, it was going to be a lot of fashion, but we wanted to make sure there was a really lovely balance of mens, womens, children, home, even things for pets, like the Oscar de la Renta dog bowl, so I think it emotionally touches a lot of people. It’s not just things you want to give for a gift–it’s things you want for yourself.”
Target and Neiman Marcus also promoted the supercollab with a TV commercial starring model, Karlie Kloss. Kloss mentioned how her ballet background has helped her get cast: “I think that one of the reasons I was cast was because of my dance background and that was the fun part of it. I got to dance around and play around and wear latex suits and pigtails and it was just a really fun shoot.”

Boy Band Lands a Fragrance Deal...

One Direction has officially made it to the big leagues: The boy band has landed themselves a fragrance deal.
According to WWD, One Direction has inked a licensing deal with Olivann Beauty, a spin-off of Fusion Brands Inc.’s Luxury Fragrance Division, to release their first-ever “women’s” scent next fall–though we’re pretty sure most of their customers will be well below the age of 18.
According to Dana Kline, president of Olivann Beauty, the fragrance has been six months in the making and will launch globally at department stores in fall 2013, concentrating first on the cities where the band is touring.
No word yet on what the perfume will smell like–we’re guessing it’ll have a base of teen spirit with top notes of raging hormones. Not that it really matters–Directioners will surely be clamoring to get their hands on it, regardless of how it actually smells. I am very curious to see what it smells like! For my followers that get to smell it, let me know what you think!

Monique Lhuillier Talks Celebrity Brides and Red Carpet Looks

Monique Lhuillier Talks Celebrity Brides and Red Carpet Dressing at...

After 16 years in the biz, Monique Lhuillier opened her first New York flagship on 71st. The designer referred to the boutique as a ‘jewel box’ to highlight her designs, and the gorgeous Waterford chandeliers and grey suede walls certainly did just that. Housed in a 19th century townhouse, the 3000 square foot, two story space actually feels quite intimate thanks to small rooms and nooks throughout.
Brides will be clamoring for the chance to head upstairs and try on Lhuillier’s famous wedding dresses in the bridal salon, which has six luxuriously furnished fitting suites. Reese Witherspoon and Carrie Underwood are among the celebs who have married in Lhuillier designs.
The damp, cold conditions didn’t stop the likes of Hannah Bronfman, Derek Blasberg and Kelly Rutherford from coming out to toast the red carpet queen. Model Anais Pouliot looked especially cute in a shimmering green dress from the designer.

Here is an interview that was caught with Lhuillier, who juggles being a mother and wife with her super successful bridal and mainline collections. And she looks utterly glamorous while she does it.

2
How does it feeling being a part of so many women’s special days from weddings to red carpet moments?
That makes me feel very validated as a designer, because women can choose to wear anything so the fact that they keep coming back to me and feel special in my clothing validates what I do. It is the biggest compliment.
What are some of your favorite red carpet moments recently?
I thought Nikki Minaj looked great at the VMAs. Emma Stone [at the Today Show] in my red leather dress was amazing. The dress I did for Jennifer Garner [at the Argopremiere] that was red crepe with leather inserts looked just incredible on her. Jessica Chastasin [at the Coriolanus premiere] wore a black lace high-low dress from me, and it was a great moment. Everyone at the Emmys looked fantastic this year, especially Padma and Jennifer Goodwin.
Do you have certain celebs in mind when designing, like Beyonce would look great in this?
No I don’t channel that person. I just think of what women want to wear and what they will feel beautiful in, but never with one specific person in mind.
What do you think we will be seeing on the red carpet this award season?
A lot of color! Everybody is also into body-conscious things, slimmer silhouettes. Less layers and more lightness.
Tell us about the concept for this lovely new store.
It is a townhouse from the 1800s and I wanted to keep it intimate and a really special experience. I want people to feel comfortable and like they can take their time here. The details are really scrumptious, and it’s about creating a beautiful jewel box to highlight my designs. I want it to be a luxurious experience.
How do you balance all your collections and crazy schedule with your family life? Are you ever overwhelmed?
My husband works the company, so that helps! I can focus on the creative and he makes sure we are a viable business. It is tough for sure though, but when you love what you do it makes you happy. My children are my balance and keep me grounded. Sometimes it’s a lot though! Looking at my calendar can be overwhelming. But I am going to see family in the Philippines at Christmas, so that will be a nice holiday.

Fashion411 News: Clothing site making a Print Magazine!

162297_in_xl | Fashionista

Soon, it’ll take that strength a step further as the company’s CEO Mark Sebba recently announced plans to launch an actual print magazine. Speaking at the Business Leaders Network’s Making it Mobile event, he said (via Wired):
Traditional publishers always say that we are lucky for being born in a digital age and don’t have a legacy of print. But we still see it as important. It isn’t a secret that Net-a-Porter will be publishing a major fashion magazine within the next 12 months or so.
Though it may sound strange for an e-commerce site to decide to launch a print magazine; it actually makes sense for Net-a-Porter for a few reasons. Founder Natalie Massenet, who used to work at WWD, has always looked at the site as a magazine that sells clothes. Plus, the company recently hired former Harper’s Bazaar UK EIC Lucy Yeomans, who now holds the same title at Net-a-Porter. The site has gradually added more editorial features since its inception and Yeomans’s influence can be seen in increased original content–like designer interviews–within the already-establishedweekly online magazine.
While NAP already had a print magazine (see here), which, according to WWD, is “sent to a small number of customers and corporate partners, like hotels,” it sounds like this new venture will be a full-fledged fashion glossy that will be on newsstands and maybe even compete with the big ones like Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.
It’s hard to say for sure, though, as the company has yet to reveal any further information. We’ve reached out to Net-a-Porter for more information and will report back once we know more.
